Seeing anyone with a disability can for some people be a difficult experience and can give a variety of responses. Listening to a range of stutterers on the Channel 4 TV programme, I was amazed by their capacity to manage their stutters and the ridicule they had put up with all their lives, knowing that this programme could effectively normalise them.
I think of people I've met who have had stammers and have listened to others laugh or snigger, not really knowing how to help except being extremely patient and giving them the time they need to capture the breath and form the words themselves. So it was with great interest when a therapy is shown on TV and gives you another key to open the world up for young preople with this problem
So I suggest you take a look at the McGuire programme
