Managing Free Range Kids Workshop
Thursday 24th October 2013
Hello to all my friends, colleagues and those of you who have liked reading this blog
I'd like to extend an invitation to you to attend a workshop I''m running at Ashford school, Ashford, Kent dedicated to managing those challenging children in the primary classroom and help resolve some of the difficult issues you face on a daily basis.
This has been circulated to primary headteachers in Kent and the main content of the email is as follows:
'Every classroom has its ‘Free range kids’; the ones that for example
call out,
wander around the room,
interrupt your teaching,
lack concentration,
fail to focus on the task set,
constantly talk to other children.
If you could find ways to help them better manage their own behaviour, how much more effective would your teaching be?
The workshop will be delivered by Mike Temple, Behavioural Consultant at The Life Skills Company who has over 17 years of experience working in behaviourally challenging environments. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of free range kids’ perspective of your classroom, strategies to manage your responses to their ever increasing demands/needs, and ideas to help enhance engagement and encourage more acceptable behaviour.
The workshop will run from 1400-1615 at Ashford School on Thursday 24th October and a limited number of places are available at £25+VAT per person, available on a first come first serve basis. If you (or a friend/member of your team) would like to attend, please contact me asap (and latest Monday14th October) to reserve a place.'
Hopefully, I'll get a chance to meet some of you on the da
